OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19

Dear Central Family,

Over the last few weeks, we have been closely watching the COVID-19 crisis, and we have taken necessary steps to accommodate. The crisis is currently affecting our local community and our congregation. As of Monday, March 16, 2020 Phoebe Sumter Medical Center (PSMC) reported that they have performed 21 tests with 0 results at that time. This week, our health and government officials have urged that all gatherings of 50 or more be suspended for now. These steps are keys to “flattening the curve” and keeping vulnerable people safe. Our witness to our community and the safety of our church family calls on us to honor the advice of those the Lord has placed in positions of authority.

We must face this opportunity in such a way that the world sees how we, as believers in Jesus Christ, face adversity in times of uncertainty. Historically, the church has faced pandemics several times and each time the church has been strengthened. We are currently serving as a partner with PSMC in serving the children of their employees during this time. We are constantly seeking additional ways we can serve those who need us most. Please keep in the forefront of your minds your neighbors, co-workers, and those at a higher risk as you pray and ask God for particular opportunities to serve at this time.

With all of this in mind, we have discontinued many of our activities/events that were previously scheduled. You can find our church calendar on our website at www.cbcamericus.org/calendar. We feel it is necessary to suspend our normal worship gathering and move our Sunday worship services to a live online service at 9:30 am or you can tune into 94.7 FM at 11 am for the sermon. This will be the Sunday schedule for at least the next two weeks. We will make a decision week to week after that. Many of you have asked about giving during this time, and I want to encourage you to continue to be generous givers. You can give online at www.cbcamericus.org/online-giving or you can come by the church office during the week.

Central services will be streaming here at cbcamericus.org
